1) Editorial

Hola !

Hope you are all fit and well. Here at the Costa Blanca Net
Guide we try and bring you some fun articles but also
informative ones too , so don´t miss this months
"Nuevas Normas de Trafico" - New Traffic Rules.
Back in January each household was sent a pamphlet
issued by the Ministerio del Interior. These new rules were
brought in over a period of months and now are all in force
so take note. We also have news of the Summer Theatre
Workshops brought to you by Theatre Express and some
exciting goings on by the Women in Business group.

Check out the new Spain Lifestyle website, it is fun and has
heaps of ideas and truths about living in Spain. You can
even hire a personal shopper to do that tedious job of
buying the essential but boring items for your new villa!

On a personal note we are looking forward to our village
fiestas which start this week?! Mind you a treat also is
that our son is off to England for a week with his
grandparents (first time without us). The flights were
booked on the internet and I was pleasantly surprised at the
prices believe it or not. Like most people do these days, a
travel agent is just not necessary even though we were
booking various flights. Over the couple of days we were
looking they even came down further in price. Now with such
competition between the airlines to destinations within
Europe at least we can enjoy cheaper air travel.

I hope you all have a great summer, hasta la proxima,

Suzanna

Nuevas Normas de Tráfico - New Traffic Rules

Hello ,

Traffic accidents are a big problem here in Spain and the
government are regularly warning motorists of the
consequences of driving too fast, under the influence of
alcohol or drugs and driving whilst tired. Whole campaigns
on TV are shown in graphic detail and news programmes
regularly give statistics of accidents, deaths, and injuries
particularly during holiday seasons.

We received a little blue booklet in January entitled
"Nuevas Normas de Tráfico" (New Traffic Rules). Many of the
traffic regulations have been updated and a few new ones
introduced. The main ones to be aware of are as follows:

1) Mobile Phones can only be used with hands free equipment.

2) It is prohibited to use screens which distract the
driver, i.e. DVD, television, internet access. The exception
of this rule is if the said screen is out of view of the
driver.

3) At filling stations all engines, lights, electrical
systems and electromagnetics (radios and mobile phones) are
to be switched off.

4) It is prohibited to have any radar detection equipment
fitted to your vehicle.

5) Children of 3 years and above and up to 150cm in height
should have the correct seatbelt/ harness for their height
and weight. All children and babies under 3 years of age
must use the correct seat with harness for their age and
weight.

6) All drivers must have a reflective jacket for use when
they leave their vehicle on the road or hard shoulder.

7) A driver will lose their license if they commit 3 serious
offences within 2 years.

You can find out more information by visiting
www.dgt.es/revista/num151/pages/ley.html
If you wish to see a translation of this page (albeit
Spanglish!) type in Nuevas Normas de Tráfico into Google and

3) Drunken Melon

Take the melon of your choice whether it be water, toadskin,
honeydew etc. Insert a skewer into the melon skin and
prepare a small "hole". Over the period of 4 to 5 days
introduce "Cava" (champagne) into the hole once a day and
return to the fridge. At the end of the 5 days take the
melon from the fride cut into chunks and
eat............mmmmmmmmmm.
You can replace the cava with vodka or another drink of your
choice.

A mega easy dessert recipe to finish off that summer meal.

International Women's Day.

International Women's Day (8 March) is an occasion marked by
women's groups around the world. This date is also
commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many
countries as a national holiday. When women on all
continents, often divided by national boundaries and by
ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political
differences, come together to celebrate their Day, they can
look back to a tradition that represents at least nine
decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and
development.
