1.	A look at Torrevieja

Torrevieja is situated to the south of Alicante. There you can find Torrevieja
and La Mata Lagoons (the first is approximately 1400 hectares in size and
the second one 700 hectares). In both lagoons there is huge natural salt
extraction, the main industry of Torrevieja, and if you visit the area you
will see the huge white mountains of extracted salt alongside the main national
road. Nowadays both lagoons are protected by the government and they have
been converted into a Natural Park. The origins of Torrevieja begin from the
early 18th Century. Torrevieja was originally named TORRE VIGIA, this is the
name of the place where the soldiers were keeping the safe of the castle.
Around 1759 a little settlement around this tower was formed by the local
fishermen who had discovered the amazing quality and quantity of fish along
this particular stretch of coast. In 1829 there was a terrible earthquake
which destroyed the city and King Fernando VII made a nationwide charity
collection to help restore the town. Nowadays Torrevieja is among the most
popular tourist areas on the Costa Blanca. Its climate, beaches, gastronomy
and of coure its people turn Torrevieja into a little eden in the Mare Nostrum shores.

2.	Villajoyosa - "Chocolate Heaven"

In the town of Villajoyosa just a few kilometres from Benidorm you will find
Valor chocolate factory and museum. Visiting a chocolate museum certainly
makes a change from the norm and has a certain fun element if not calorific
value if you are a chocolate fan!! The museum houses a variety of original
machines and tells the story of how Don Valeriano López Lloret started this
now extremely successful business back in 1881 in the town of Villajoyosa.
It still is a family run business and has certainly kept up with the times and
technology. All the recipes are now programmed into computers therefore they
believe the quality is always perfect and consistent. For all chocoholics
visit Valor's website www.valor.es it has a wealth of information and even
the chance to buy a franchise so if you are looking for a job and love
chocolate this could be an ideal situation for you. There is the history if
the business with important changes and upgrades from 1881 to present day.
You can wander round the factory in virtual reality. Valor have listed their
range of products but virtual reality hasn't covered the taste and smell yet!
Maybe one day in the future but until that day you will still need to actually
go there to actually smell and taste the products. And finally for serious
chocolate fans part of the site is dedicated to what they call "Everything
you've ever wanted to know about chocolate (and didn't know where to ask!)
If you want to visit Valor Chocolates you can contact them and arrange a
guided tour or just drop by.
