There
are public telephones by the pool but you may want to make sure you
get the bar lifted on your mobile so it can be used abroad (warning!
UK mobile companies charge £1/minute abroad)
There are some great walks to the top of the hill (if you're up to
it!) magnificent views over the valleys and to the sea.
On the road into Moraira on the left is The European Shopping Centre
with a good little supermarket Pepe la Sal, a few bars, general shops
etc.
Further along is Barclays Bank and more shops.
At the roundabout in Moraira you can go straight on into the main
street (one way), take the Portet road for the Portet beach, turn
right for Moraira beach, car parks, the market (Fridays) or continue
on the coast road to Calpe.
It's well worthwhile just wandering around the village it's very pretty
with interesting shops bars and restaurants. Some recommendations:
have a drink in La Sort just on the roundabout on the front. To soak
up the sun and the atmosphere try lunch outside Cap D'Or, (that's
the middle section of tables) very relaxed.
The Marina is interesting to walk around, there's a few bars and snack
bars scattered around the area.
Places to go;
Drive along the coast road to Calpe, the scenery is stunning in places
and has some of the best beaches on both sides of the rock (Penon
de Ifach). Walking away from the town on the sea front towards the
rock there is a really magnificent promenade with mosaic pavements,
gardens, shady bars and restaurants. In the port further along are
several good fish restaurants.
Javea is good for the beach (Arenal), interesting port and old town,
maps are in the house.
Jalon is a must, again maps are in the house, recommended on the way
to Jalon in Senija is Bar Senija (it's a restaurant not a bar) food
is good, very much family run and inexpensive.
In Jalon itself La Pista is really good, personally and highly recommended,
Casa Caty just over the road is also good. Further along going towards
Alcalali is a honey shop selling all sorts of honey products, soap,
candles, sweets and honey of course. On the same stretch are a couple
of Bodegas worth visiting.
On to Alcalali there are a couple of good and unbelievably cheap restaurants,
like 3 course meal of the day, wine or beer, coffee drinks etc for
less than a tenner. Los Almendros and Castel Vi are next door to each
other the food is very good in both the only problem you've got is
choosing which one!
Going on from Alcalali towards Parcent turn left at the crossroads
and drive up to Coll de Rates the highest point in the valley at the
top is a bar restaurant from here you can see several towns on the
coast and the full length of the valley.
This is a very small selection of places to see, eat and drink there's
a huge variety available to suit everyone.
