The Town of Moraira Moraira is a vibrant village benefiting from years of inward investment and local tourism, attracting both young and old, as it suprisingly caters for all spectrums. This old fishing village has a long and varied historical background, with many fiestas celebrating the language, the local traditions and the picturesque landscape. Moraira itself has an impressive marina surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants, most serving freshly caught fish from the fishing port. There are approximately 80-90 restaurants that cater for all tastes with local delicacies given pride of place next to well known international dishes. Some are even recommended in the Michelin restaurant guide which you can obtain here. The surrounding area is dotted with holiday homes, luxury villas and campsites, to accommodate all budgets and tastes. All manner of sports are available from yachting, scuba-diving and jet-ski to Go-Karting and Tennis. The locals (Morairaners) are especially hospitable to the traveller and full participation in the local fiestas is welcomed and positively encouraged. The main fiesta of the year is the Moors and Christians, celebrated in the 2nd week of June, with the majority of the festivities taking place just behind the magnificent beach. |
